A Skinny Girls Happy Hour…

Happy Friday Dolls! As the week comes to an end, I’m here to remind you to keep in mind that your healthy eating & workouts shouldn’t end at 5pm today and continue again Monday morning. Every calorie counts even if Sunday dinner has a possibility of putting you into a food coma. Think about what you are intaking & make minor changes in correcting these mistakes. Pasta & a little bread is fine, but switch to whole wheat. Tomato sauce is excellent, try & use whole tomato sauce & load up your plate with those low in calorie tomatoes. A little cheese can add great flavor, but just a little bit can go a long way. You don’t want to ruin all of the hard work you put into this weeks workouts & meal plans! We are all allowed to enjoy our favorite foods, but get those workouts in & continue that mindful eating you have worked so hard to stick to.

Friday nights for a lot of people start with happy hour & end at some diner at 2am with an order of french fries & gravy. Happy hour could get your days calorie count higher than Snookie’s hair puff. With smarter decisions, you can continue to enjoy happy hour & keep that beer belly off. A light beer is only around 110 calories, try to keep them at a minimum. Vodka is around 65 calories & will keep the numbers super low. Once you start getting into the regular beers (close to 150 calories) or the heavier liquors such as Kaluha which will add around 190 calories to your daily count, there is more of a chance of packing on pounds. Here are my top 3 tips to surviving the happiest hours of your week-
~Remember that adding juices to your alcoholic drinks does not count as your intake of fruit for the day. Many juices are high in sugar & calories. Stick to calorie free mixers such as Sprite Zero, club soda or seltzer. Tonic is just as high in calories as a regular soda so stay clear of this mixer.
~Eat before you go out & bring a snack with you for after. Once you have alcohol in your system, it’s tougher to turn down fattening foods. If you have something with you to eat, it could remind you how hard you worked this week & turn you away from that greasy cheeseburger you have your eye on. If your friends are forcing you to order something, stick to something grilled, fresh & not fried.
~Surround yourself with good company. If your friends know about your new plan to stay healthy, they will not try to convince you to go for another round. The better company, the more talking you will do which will distract you from ordering another round or shots for the whole group.

Remember these simple steps & you’ll wake up Saturday morning with no regrets!

Enjoy your weekend!! xo
